Christmas 2009

Christmas was a lot of fun this year. Both girls were so excited and made it so much fun. We started out Christmas Eve at my parents house with the traditional food, presents for the kids, white elephant and money trivia game for the adults. We had a lot of fun and the girls were SO excited to finally be able to open presents. My mom gave them each their own princess house and princess/prince set. They were in heaven and played upstairs the whole time the adult games were going on.
Christmas morning came with me waking up at 8:00 and everyone else still asleep. I decided to shower and get ready, Ryan did the same. Ryan's dad Jeff stayed with us this year and he had been up since 7 because he was so excited. We finally woke the girls at 8:30. So far there has not been a year that we have not woken them up and I realize this is going to end very soon. The girls were so excited and LOVED everything they got. They were very good with the "thank you" this year. This year the family recieved a wii and Addie has been playing it nonstop. After presents were opened we headed to Ryan's brother's for breakfast and more presents. Then it was over to Grandma Bushman's for MORE presents. The girls received "Baby Alive" from their Great Grandma and they LOVE them.
Later in the afternoon, my parents and Amber came over with all the leftover food from Christmas Eve. This was AWESOME! They came to see what the girls got and I didn't have to cook. We decided this would become the new tradition.
I gave Ryan this massive Nerf gun that has a tripod. He was so excited he had to go across to show our friend and neighbor Greg before we could go to breakfast. He and Addie have had a good time playing together with their Nerf guns.
It was a wonderful Christmas and we are so greatful for the season and all of our wonderful blessings. We really tried to stress to the girls what the TRUE meaning of Christmas is and I think they have figured it out.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

The Words "Asher" and "trouble" can be used interchangeably

Yesterday I came into the kitchen and Asher was no longer by his toys (big surprise since there are better things to play with). I could not see him and was calling for him. He was hidden behind the island and when I came around it, this is what I found.

The dishwasher is a MUCH better toy than any other that I could give him. This kid is going to be the death of me. Right after this I put him in his walker to keep him occupied. I started vacuuming and he LOVES the vacuum. I started down the hall forgetting he was in his walker until I heard it banging down the stairs. Yes, that is right he went down the stairs in his walker - for the second time. This time he did not stay in it. As I was racing down the stairs to grab him in my haste I slipped and slid almost landing on him. He only cried for about 30 seconds and then he was okay and acting as if nothing happened - thank goodness they are so resilient. Other than a small bruise on the forehead and a scratch on the back of his neck (not really sure how that one happened) he is okay. I'll tell you what, I felt like mother of the year after that one. Love this little trouble maker even if he does make me skip a few breaths with his antics.

Sadie = 4 years old!

Showing her "GO UTES!"
(We made Gingerbread Houses for her birthday party)

Thursday December 17th, Sadie turned 4 years old. How fast that four years has flown and we love our little Woo. Her stubbornness showed before she was even out of the womb. While in labor, the nurses discovered she was face up and had me rolling from side to side and laying at odd angles trying to get her to turn. She refused and so my doctor came in and turned her face down but she quickly turned back. My doctor had to turn her face down again and hold her that way so that she would come out. She can still be a very stubborn little girl but she is such a sweet little girl as well. She LOVES to cuddle and has a very soft spot for animals, especially dogs and cats. She is tender hearted and takes such good care of her little brother. We love our Sadester Woo and are so blessed to have her in our family.

She was so excited to turn 4!

Asher's new best friend

Asher has a new best friend who is so patient with him. He lets Asher crawl all over him, pull on him, he doesn't ever take toys away from Asher even though Asher is constantly taking things away from him. Asher is always pushing him around and he still helps him to walk. We love Asher's new best friend, he is so patient with him and is always up for playing with Asher. Thank you Dyson, we love you and appreciate your wonderful entertaining of our baby.

The Ashman...what a NUT!

This was Asher last night in the bath. He loves his baths but has never been quite this vocal before. He definately has my mouth - meaning he can fit his fist in it.

Honk if...

Yesterday, the President of UVU came and ate lunch with a few friends and I. For those of you who don't know, Elder Holland's son is the president of UVU. Prior to coming to UVU he taught political science at BYU. Yesterday as he sat down at our table (totally random thing to have happen, but pretty cool) he was asking us our names. I was wearing my Utah sweatshirt and he asked me if I was a "Utah girl". I said yes and then he asked me what I thought of Max Hall's comments. I simply said (much to my credit because I had been really hot prior to this) that it was too bad that is how he chose to go out and that that is how he would be remembered. He agreed with me and I have to say I thought it was pretty cool, not to mention that the President of UVU chose to sit by us at lunch. Anyway, I thought these pics were hilarious and couldn't resist posting them.

Derek Jeter

We train our kids young at our house to LOVE sports. We are HUGE Yankee and Utah fans. We were listening to a division series game a few weeks back and Sadie heard the announcer say "Derek Jeter". As soon as she heard it (funny she was listening to the game because we were in the car) she started chanting "Derek Jeter" (clap, clap, clap, clap clap). Ryan and I were so proud of her.
Tonight as we were watching the Yankees (damn Yankees lost), I started chanting Derek Jeter and this is what Asher started doing. (Sorry for the "damnit Brett" at the end but he popped up and ended the inning!)

Halloween

Halloween was VERY successful this year. The kids trick or treated at Ryan's work on Friday and as usual came home with pumpkins busting open. They always get so much candy there that they really don't need to go out and trick or treat around the neighborhood.
On Saturday, my family came over for the traditional Enchilada dinner night and trick or treating around the neighborhood. We made it up and down on of the streets in our neighborhood and they were ready to be done. My girls would rather hand out treats to those who come to our house than go trick or treating themselves. This year, Alek got in on the action, and if he didn't get to give one to a kid at the door, he would take it and put it in his own bucket. Smart kid! This year Addie was Sleeping Beauty, Sadie was Belle and Asher was a skeleton. It was a lot of fun and Addie is already planning her costume for next year.

Disneyland, Sea World, Disneyland and more Disneyland

For Fall Break we took the fam to Disneyland. We planned the trip in April and did not tell the girls for two reasons. 1. We didn't have to keep hearing them ask when we were leaving for Disneyland for the past 5 plus months. 2. We wanted it to be a SURPRISE!
We succeeded, it was a surprise and we had a GREAT time. We left last Sunday morning and arrived home Sunday evening. We also went to Sea World while we were there and hit the Utah game in Vegas on the way back. The kids did GREAT on the drive to and from. We did come home with three sick kids and one sick husband mainly from lack of sleep. Rather than have a huge long post, I am going to fill it with pictures and video.

Noteworthy:

When going to see "The Queen" Sadie ran up to her and hugged her. The Queen almost broke character and smiled. After regaining her composure she said, "I am usually not greeted with a hug."

Aerial invited the girls to go shoe shopping with her and Sadie has requested that we go every day since.

Addie's favorite ride....Star Tours

Sadie not scared of any ride and rode them all. She was disappointed that she was not tall enough to go on the Screamer.

Addie preferred the slower/non scary rides. Pirates of the Caribbean was not a hit with her. There were too many skeletons and she rode the entire ride with her hands over her ears and her head buried in Ryan's lap. Sadie could have cared less and Asher fell asleep in the middle of it.

I lost the girls for about 2 minutes. Ryan was on a ride and they were going through Tarzan's Tree house. My Aunt and cousins saw me and while I was talking with them they slipped past me. Luckily we were reunited immediately.

We sat in the Soak Zone for the Shamu show and didn't get wet at all.

It was a GREAT trip even though we came home with three sick kids and a sick Daddy.
