Christmas 2007

Another Christmas has come and gone and it is crazy to think how fast the year goes by. Addie's culture came back positive (just like we all thought it would) and she is on an antibiotic and doing much better. Christmas was a lot of fun even for Addie who was running 100 + degree temperature for most of the day. The girls had a great time opening presents. Well actually more so Addie than Sadie. Sadie was content to sit and play with the toys that were already opened while Addie was intent on opening as many as possible. Both girls made out well and had a great Christmas. Ryan and I did also and it was nice to spend it with family and take it easy. Ryan has this week off of work and we have just been hanging out. We have hardly gone anywhere and this has enabled the girls to play with their toys and Ryan and I to watch season 2 of Boston Legal. We are half way through and received season 3 for Christmas so that should keep us busy for a while. For those of you who have not seen Boston Legal it is a must and you will likely find it hilarious. We hope that you all had a great Christmas!

All I want for Christmas is .... no sick kids!!!

This is the third year running in which I have had a sick child for Christmas. It all started yesterday at church when Addie came down with a fever. We took her home early and by that evening she was registering 103 degrees on the thermometer and complaining that her head hurt (strep throat). Early this morning she got in bed with us and she was so hot that I was sweating. So I got her into the doctor (Dr. Bahr was on call and an excellent pediatrician if anyone wants her number) where they took a throat culture. When she looked in Addison's throat she thought for sure it was strep throat because her throat was clearly infected, she was complaining of head and body aches. The initial strep test was negative and she said that happens often so they are sending the culture out but we will not know for 48 hours. Anyway, we are doping her up with Tylenol and Motrin and when they kick in she is happy. I am pretty sure that the culture will come back positive because she is now complaining that she has a sore throat.
The good news was that by the time we got home from my parents from celebrating Christmas Eve they were both asleep (before 8:00) and we did not have to fight them to go down. Santa was able to come early this year and had a fun time setting out the girls things.
We hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Second Annual Newton Family ....

December 16th, the Second Annual Newton Family lunch/ice skating/Christmas lights party was held. We began the afternoon by having lunch at Texas Roadhouse where the rolls were delicious as well as the food. I believe everyone left feeling very satisfied with their food. Next it was off to the Trax station where we rode the train up to the Gallivan Center for ice skating. Everyone participated in ice skating except for Amber (6 months pregnant) and Grandpa Jeffy-poo(bum knee, back, hand etc.) Everyone had a great time including Addison and Sadie. However, mom and dad were extremely sore from holding Sadie up as we skated on the ice. She loved it though and every time we took her off of the ice to have a rest (for me not her) she would cry. Grandpa Kimbo I think had the most fun and was finally able to perfect his turns on the ice.
Next it was off to Starbucks for hot chocolate and then off to Temple Square to look at the lights. For Addison and Sadie, the fountains were more of a draw then the lights. Both girls wanted to take off their boots in order to dip their feet into the water. While stopping at one of the fountains, Kimberlee's boyfriend Kris dropped down on one knee and officially proposed to her in front of all of us. We all agreed that it took a lot of guts to do it in front of the whole family and after some of us wiping away tears (Grandpa Kimbo) we all celebrated with a group hug. In the end, the party was a huge success with everyone having a great time.

Sadie turns two!!!

Sadie is two!!! On December 17th, our little Sadie turned two years old. We celebrated by throwing her a party with family and friends. She was of course spoiled rotten and we appreciate all the gifts that were given. She received a "big girl" bed this year and is adjusting nicely to sleeping in it. The only problem we have is she will get out of bed and try and change her pajamas around. She is pretty good but occasionally when we go to check on her she is wearing a shirt as a skirt and because she has not covered herself up she is cold. She is such a funny little girl and it is very hard to keep clothes on her. She also received a lot of Diego paraphnalia for her birthday because that is what she is currently into. Also from her Aunt Amber and Nanny and her Uncle Rafal she received this princess dress up that she immediatly had to put on. For Sadie however her favorite thing was her birthday cake of which she immediately started sampling and in the end the whole top right corner became hers.
It is crazy to think that she is already two years old, how time flies. She is beginning to talk much better and more often. Rather than simply saying "no" to something she will say "no, I don't want ...." She also is starting to say family prayers with help. Some of the words are still hard for her to form but she tries and it is so cute. We love her so much and she makes us laugh every day.

First Try

This is our first attempt at blogging. Addison our oldest is 3 1/2, loves to sing and dance and be a princess. She started preschool in September and has loved every day of it.

Sadie is almost 23 months and will turn 2 on December 17th. She is a very strong willed little girl who loves to do whatever her sister does. She is just starting to really talk and loves to give kisses and hugs.

Ryan is working for First American Residential Value View. Ryan the die hard sports fan like the rest of us was very dissapointed when the Yankees did not make it to the World Series. Worse than that was seeing the Boston Red Sox win their second title in 3 years. RED SOX SUCK!!! The phrase most commonly used around our house.

I am in my second year of school at UVSC, and I am still loving it for the most part. This is my most challenging semester so far and I am starting to get a little burned out. I am studing history with the intent to one day become a professor and teach at the college level. The days are busy with going to school as well as taking care of the girls and the house. A month ago we added a new member to the family -- Rosie. She is a Lhasa Opso-Shitzu mix and is a very cute puppy. The girls love her and the poor dog is constantly being carried around by one of them. she is pretty good with them and is finally starting to understand the concept of going to the bathroom outside.
All in all things are going good. We are very busy but are enjoying life. As long as the Utes keep winning, things will continue to be good.
