Rock A Bye Baby and Grandma "Bal"

My mom and sister came over today to help me out and they were downstairs with the girls playing with the Dora house. One of the items in the house is a baby change table and when you push it it plays the song "Rock a Bye Baby". Addie told my sister that the song scares her. This is totally out of the norm since the most random things will scare her. Amber asked her why the song scared her and she said "because the Bal breaks, and I don't want Grandma Bal to break, it makes me so sad."
For those of you who don't know my mom's name is Val but Addie can't say her "v's" so it comes out Grandma "Bal". Anyway, she thought the song was talking about her Grandma "Bal" breaking and it really bothered her. She is so funny!

A few new pics

Here are a few pics of Asher. I have not really been in the picture taking mood plus he seems to be permanately attatched to me because all he wants to do is eat. My milk came in Friday so I thought he would slow down now that he was actually getting something but no, he just keeps on going even when the flow chokes him, I have to literally pull him off. He has been a really good baby, very mellow and only gets upset when he is hungry or being bathed. The girls were amazed at how far of a stream he can shoot when he peed in the tub the other day during his bath. Addison is extremely "helpful" and wants to walk around holding him and is very frustrated that we will not let her. Sadie finally took an interest in him Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was up feeding him and she woke up coughing. She layed on the couch while I fed him and kept rubbing his head telling me how cute he was. When I finished, she asked to hold him and since then she has really taken a bigger interest in him.

Ryan's work sent a cookie bouquet, the girls are in heaven

Asher Rey Sedgwick

Asher Rey Sedgwick was born today, January 22, 2009 @ 2:11 p.m. He weighs 7 lbs 4 ozs and is 20.5 inches long. My doctor came and broke my water at 12:30 and when she came to check me at 1:45 I was fully dilated and his head was right there. So from set up to clean up it was about 20 minutes. I pushed twice and out he came. He was so easy and I am so lucky that I have such quick and easy labors. The nursing student that was helping could not believe how fast I went. Asher is doing great and nursing like a champ and I am feeling so good. When he came out, it felt so good to be able to breathe. I am so grateful for my wonderful doctor and that Asher is a healthy baby. Addison is so in love with her brother and wants to hold him all the time. At first she was very upset that Asher had dark hair and not red like her but once she saw him, it was all forgotten. Sadie is a little indifferent and doesn't really care one way or the other.
I want to thank my wonderful sister Kimberlee who was up before six this morning so that she could be at my house by 6:30 to watch my girls. She has been such a big help and I appreciate her so much.

Pregnancy Pics

I decided to take a couple of pregnancy pics with this pregnancy. I don't have any with Sadie and a few people have requested to see what I look like at 9 months. So here it is. I can't tell you how excited I am that this is my last full day being pregnant!

Indoor Sledding

This is what Ryan was doing with the girls tonight. They wanted to go sledding behind the truck again but since there is no snow on the road, Ryan was pulling them around on blankets. They were having a great time and as much as Ryan was trying to tip them over they held on pretty good.

As a side note, here is a conversation that Ryan and Addie just had.

Ryan: Des, when the girls go to bed we should have some c-o-o-k-i-e-s.

Addie: I want some too dad.

Ryan: What do you want?

Addie: Whatever it is that you spelled.

Ryan: When you can tell me what I spelled then you can have some.

Kids are too smart, she knew that whatever it was that he was spelling was good and she wanted in on it.

Induction Day is set!

Well today I went to my last doctor's appointment and we set next Thursday for me to be induced! I was only at a three and 50% effaced which was really disappointing. I thought for sure that I would have progressed further but oh well, he is coming Thursday, and I can hardly wait. I am grateful that I am able to get pregnant and have children but there are so many things about this pregnancy that I will not miss such as....
-Having my knees hit my belly as I walk up the stairs
-Being able to lay only on my left side so that I don't get sick
-Having a constant pain right under my right breast that goes through to my back
-Sighing throughout my classes and having my teachers think I am bored when really it is because I can't breathe
-Being able to turn in bed without a lot of effort
-Having my boobs rest on my belly (when I am not pregnant and have been breast feeding for a while, my boobs pretty much disappear...just ask Ryan)
-SWOOBS
-the burn in my pubic bone as I try and walk
-Having people tell me how cute I look....come on, I know the real truth I see myself everyday and it is not cute
-Being congested and breathing really loud....I am giving Ryan a run for his money in that department
I will however miss feeling him move inside of me, that is my favorite part of being pregnant.
So next Thursday is the day unless by some miracle he decides to come early but I am not counting on it.

Ryker William Newton

My brother Willy and his wife Jen had their "little" boy yesterday. Ryker William Newton weighed in at an ASTOUNDING 9l bs 10 ozs and is 21 inches long! We were all shocked to hear how big he was because my brother is tall around 6' 2" but he is a total lurp and his wife is probably 5' 7" but is a skinny girl so between the two of them we never would have guessed that Ryker would come out the size of a 2 month old.
My poor sister-in-law had been dilated to a 4 for the past 2 1/2 weeks and her doctor told her the soonest that he would induce her would be a week after her due date (13th). Lucky for her she had high blood pressure at her last appt. so she had to go into the hospital the next day to be monitored and if it didn't go down then he would induce her. Well it didn't and when the Dr (I am no using that term loosely because I don't think he is that good of a Dr) broke her water hardly any came out. Apparently she was at a "2" where the amniotic fluid is concerned and you are supposed to be at a "14". How her lame Dr. missed that I don't know but we all considered it a blessing that her blood pressure was high or there could have been major complications with Ryker had she been told to wait another week. After being in labor for most of the day and not progressing past an 8, her Dr finally decided to do a c-section. When they took him out, those in the room were so surprised at how big he was and started guessing that he was between 9 and 10 pounds. My poor sister-in-law thought they were just "messing" with her as she put it and didn't really think that he was that big. Well he was and is! He is so cute though and we all love him so much. He barely fits into newborn clothes and so today my sisters and I went shopping to get him much needed 3-6 month clothes because he will be in them in a matter of weeks. He has a lot of hair (mainly in the back) and it is a blondish-brown. He has chubby cheeks, legs and arms. He has the cutest little screechy cry and is just so laid back. We are so happy for Willy and Jen and wish them the best with Ryker.
On a side note, as my sisters and I were seeing Ryker for the first time, Willy finally came back to the hospital after going home and showering. When he walked in the room, he had this huge piece of gauze and tape over his right eye. We all asked him what happened and he told us not to worry about it! Yeah right, we all thought he may have gotten in a fight or something. Well what had happened was that he slipped in the shower and slammed his head on the back of the toilet and was too embarrassed to tell us what had happened. The cut is huge and he refused to get stitches (something about having a shot....wimp) so my sister Kimberlee took steri strips and closed it up as best she could. It looks a lot better now other than it is really swollen. Poor guy, hadn't slept in like 48 hours, gets a beautiful HUGE baby boy and then cuts his head open after slipping in the shower. What a crazy few days, we are just glad that Jen is doing and looking great!

Congratulations Greg!

Harold Terry and Greg

I just wanted to congratulate our neighbor and friend Greg Neer on receiving Officer of the Year for Lehi City. For those of you who remember and those who don't this summer Lehi City Officer Harold Terry was shot in the head (and survived) when he stopped a woman who was acting very suspiciously. Greg was one of the officers who responded with Capt. Terry and saw him get shot. Greg returned fire when the woman shot Capt. Terry and shot and killed her. Everything was by the book and Greg did exactly what he should have done in the situation. Greg struggled for quite some time following the incident but is doing very good right now and we are so proud of him and his accomplishments. Greg and Nicole's son Hayze was born on the same day as Sadie and they are best buds. Nicole and Greg are some of the greatest people and we feel very blessed that they moved in across the street. Whenever Ryan goes out of town Greg will call and make sure that everything is okay with me and the kids and see if we need anything. We love the Neers and are thankful for Greg and the service that he gives the community of Lehi.

Bad Mommy!

I went shopping today with my mom and sisters. After finishing lunch, I was trying to get Sadie to put her coat on so we could go and being little miss defiant she was refusing. She had sat herself on the floor and I had one of her hands and went to pull her up. She refused to put her feet down and went limp and swung right into the chair. She started crying pretty hard so I figured that she had bumped her head pretty good. When I picked her up she had blood gushing from above her eye, she had split it open right next to her eyebrow. I was wearing a scarf and quickly put it over the cut to stop the blood. My sister who is a medical assistant said she would probably need stitches. Knowing that they would have to numb it by giving her a shot directly into the wound, I was not about to go and do that. It wasn't overly deep and would have only required two or three stitches at the most. After cleaning her up and me ( I had blood all over my face from her hiding her face in mine), we went to get some band aids at Target and she wouldn't let us touch her with them. Most kids want a band aid but Sadie was content to sit in the car and look at her cut in the mirror. When we got home, I held her down while my sister applied the much needed band aid because the cut had started to split further from not having one on it. She is doing good now but I feel pretty bad like it was my fault for trying to haul her up to her feet and ultimately ended in her smacking her head on the chair.
